Neck pain is a common complaint in our office. It can start from a variety of different reasons. Trauma, such as a car accident (often whiplash) or sports injury, are common reasons we see. Many times the accident was years ago, but manifestations from that injury are starting to surface. This is because of the lack of normal function in the muscles and the vertebral joints of in the neck. Postural dysfunctions are another common reason we see.
Rather its holding the phone with their shoulder, leaning toward one side when they sit, sleeping, anterior head carriage, all of these lead to the muscles to shorten and become overloaded aggravating the area. Any of these muscle imbalance can create stress in the neck which can result in misalignments or what we call subluxations. Subluxations perpetuate joint and or nerve irritation leading to neck irritation, headaches, shoulder pain, numbness/tingling down the arms, dizziness, and fatigue. We provide a wide variety of treatment options for neck pain including chiropractic care, interferential therapy, infrared light therapy, vibration plate therapy, trigger point therapy, and myofascial/lymphatic massage.
